I get a call about a person stabbed in this run down apartment complex. So, I’m lights and sirens over there. When I arrive I see about 30 people scattering, so I knew thats where the person stabbed is. Anyways I pull up and I see an older black male sitting on a retaining wall wearing a white shirt covered in blood. I asked him his name, what happened, etc. He didn’t tell me anything besides for everyone stabbed him in apt. 8. I tend to his wounds and a concerned citizen brings a towel out there that she applies to subdue the bleeding. The cut really wasn’t that bad, because most of the bleeding appeared to have stopped on its own. EMS arrives and takes him away in a hurry. I still don’t know who this guy is or what happened because he was fully capable, but didn’t want to tell me anything. So I beat on apt. 8 multiple times and no answer. I asked probably 25 people if they saw anything, and I get No’s from everyone. I did find a 4 year old named “little B”, who said the guy lived in apt. 8. Then his grandmother came over and yelled at him for talking to the police and everyone rushed away. She said she didn’t see “nothin”. Later this 16 year old girl comes out of apt. 8 and tells me what happened. It was a domestic situation where the guy was moving out and making threats all day, then his girlfriend just couldn’t take anymore, he turned towards her while making threats and she pulled out a pair of sissors (not the super sharp knife like kind, they were somewhat rounded on the tip) and stabbed him in the chest. It was really just about where his collar bone is, didn’t pucture a lung or artery. I asked the girl who was out there and saw the incident take place, and she said about 30 people. So basically nobody would tell me what happened for whatever reason. One lady kindof told us who did it, but she was whispering and hiding behind a wall so nobody would recognize who she was.
Basically I took the lady under arrest, but it is frustrating how nobody wants to cooperate with the police, including the victim in this case. I had another officer go to the hospital to interview the victim, and find out his side of the story, and all he would tell the officer (in a violent tone, demanding that the woman’s ass be thrown in jail) that he walked outside, and she stabbed him. He wouldn’t say anything more. The officer told me it was quite frustrating.
So, I speak to the judge, and (I think) because the victim was so uncooperative about giving details as to the situation. She denied the warrant and the woman was released.
It was frustrating and alot of work to say the least.
