I get a call about a person stabbed in this run down apartment complex. So, I’m lights and sirens over there. When I arrive I see about 30 people scattering, so I knew thats where the person stabbed is. Anyways I pull up and I see an older black male sitting on a retaining wall wearing a white shirt covered in blood. I asked him his name, what happened, etc. He didn’t tell me anything besides for everyone stabbed him in apt. 8. I tend to his wounds and a concerned citizen brings a towel out there that she applies to subdue the bleeding. The cut really wasn’t that bad, because most of the bleeding appeared to have stopped on its own. EMS arrives and takes him away in a hurry. I still don’t know who this guy is or what happened because he was fully capable, but didn’t want to tell me anything. So I beat on apt. 8 multiple times and no answer. I asked probably 25 people if they saw anything, and I get No’s from everyone. I did find a 4 year old named “little B”, who said the guy lived in apt. 8. Then his grandmother came over and yelled at him for talking to the police and everyone rushed away. She said she didn’t see “nothin”. Later this 16 year old girl comes out of apt. 8 and tells me what happened. It was a domestic situation where the guy was moving out and making threats all day, then his girlfriend just couldn’t take anymore, he turned towards her while making threats and she pulled out a pair of sissors (not the super sharp knife like kind, they were somewhat rounded on the tip) and stabbed him in the chest. It was really just about where his collar bone is, didn’t pucture a lung or artery. I asked the girl who was out there and saw the incident take place, and she said about 30 people. So basically nobody would tell me what happened for whatever reason. One lady kindof told us who did it, but she was whispering and hiding behind a wall so nobody would recognize who she was.
Basically I took the lady under arrest, but it is frustrating how nobody wants to cooperate with the police, including the victim in this case. I had another officer go to the hospital to interview the victim, and find out his side of the story, and all he would tell the officer (in a violent tone, demanding that the woman’s ass be thrown in jail) that he walked outside, and she stabbed him. He wouldn’t say anything more. The officer told me it was quite frustrating.
So, I speak to the judge, and (I think) because the victim was so uncooperative about giving details as to the situation. She denied the warrant and the woman was released.
It was frustrating and alot of work to say the least.
I just came back from traffic court. There were so many people pleading not guilty to facts which they readily admit to, it was extremely annoying and a waste of time.
Basically if an officer writes you a ticket for speeding, and clocks you using a laser, there is nothing you can do, all you are going to do is pay the fine, waste the judge’s time and your time. You can’t argue that you violated the law, but you had a reason for violating the law because you wanted to get home.
It doesn’t work that way. There are so many laws out there, laws passed by the citizen’s elected officials, that there is no excuse when you violate these laws, you are guilty. There is no reason to plead not guilty.
There were so many people pleading not guilty to driving on suspended license, expired tags, etc. Basically if you say you didn’t know, you still violated the law. It sucks, but you are going to get a ticket. So do everyone a favor and just pay the thing and save yourself some time.
Most people know about police officers and the thin blue line stickers that they and family have on their vehicles. The original idea when it was established to let police officers know that there is a gun in the vehicle, because that person driving the car is a police officer.
Unfortunately, so many people who aren’t police officers have these stickers on their cars. Its such a problem that it really doesn’t mean anything anymore. In fact every time I see someone with the sticker on their car, I try my hardest to pull the vehicle over. Why?
Because it makes me mad when I see people driving with the sticker (or a fake sticker) on their car in the hope that they won’t get pulled over. So get one if you want. All you are going to do is stand out and stick your neck out there to get pulled over. Good Luck!
I pulled a guy over the other day who accused me of profiling!
Let me give you a little background as to the circumstances.
I responded to a burglary in progress call in this neighborhood that has about 4 streets, however there is only one long street that acts as the entrance and exit to the neighborhood. There are maybe 150 houses total. Anyways I go and check out the house and a woman said the suspects just left, she said there was a black male driving teal honda accord with short black hair about 6′ ft. So I go back to this main entrance area (it is about 10:00 am) almost everyone in the neighborhood is at work, so there are very very few cars coming down this street, maybe like 4 cars every 10 minutes.
After a minute or two here comes a black male driving teal honda accord with short black hair about 6′ ft. I pull him over and he turns out to live in the neighborhood and is going to work, (he wasn’t the suspect). But, he still got an attitude with me, because I pulled him over. I explained the situation (how he fit the profile of the suspect), and I apologized for taking about 2 minutes of his time.
He still ranted somthing about racial profiling. I again told him that I appologized for any inconvenience and explained if it was his house with the broken windows, doors, stolen jewelry and television he would want the criminals captured, or for me to at least try if they drive right by me. He still wasn’t satisfied. Then I told him it was my job to catch criminals that try to break into his and other’s houses and I’m going to do my job. Furthermore, I explained that I was acting under the full color of law with my articulatble and reasonable suspicion based on being a State of Georgia certified peace officer with valid probable cause that would stand up in any court system. I also informed him of my full name badge number and offered to let him use my cell phone to call my supervisor for the terrible atrocities I did to him.
Of course he didn’t want to do that and decided it was best to just be on his way 2 minutes later, when if he didn’t spend most of the time arguing I really only would have taken 40 seconds of his time.
So many people waste so much time trying to find some kind of injustice being done to them, trying to be a victim. If we all just sucked it up, quit complaining and just handle difficulty or a bad situation (because stuff happens) we could really make a difference and get things done.
Today we started the day with about 8 calls pending. My vehicle was almost out of gas so I had to drive down to the pumps and fillup. On the way at about 6:30 am there I saw a Ford F-150 wizzing in and out of traffic trying to get somewhere fast, so I pulled him over. …..Read more »
Just because a police officer is following you, doesn’t mean you should drive 15 miles an hour under the speed limit, slyly sneak your seatbelt on, chug down that last gulp of beer and stare in the rear-view mirror to see what he is doing. If a police officer is following you very closely he is either doing 1 of 2 things.
1. He could be reading your license plate. Sometimes it is hard to see license plates at a distance, so he might be creeping up on you to read your plate. He is trying to run your tag number through a database that will tell him if you have expired license and tags or for outstanding warrant information.
Basically if he is doing this it should be very obvious, because he is mostly looking at his computer and typing. In this case just go ahead and pull off to a side street and get out of his way, because if he is going to pull you over, he would have done so already or is about to.
2. He could be and most likely (at least in my precinct) is trying to get to a call. Basically someone called 911 and needs a police officer’s assistance, however the problem isn’t severe enough (based on the knowledge that we have over the phone) that we can turn our lights and sirens on. Really because of liability reasons we can’t bluelight to get to every call. Because disgusting slimy individuals out there just want to sue the government for a million dollars if they get hit in an accident because they stubbed their toe. When people do that, everyone suffers (mainly the citizens that pay taxes for police services). For instance: you could call 911 and all the 911 operator hears is you yelling saying you need the police then the line goes dead. Well what is really happening is your psycho ex-boyfriend/husband/baby daddy decided he was going to kick open your door and beat you in the face with a baseball bat while he is raping you.
In that scenario a police officer is driving close behind you, he is going to look anxious to get passed you. Someone needs his help, but technically and according to policy (at least in dekalb county) we are not allowed to turn our lights and sirens on to get there as fast as possible. Because the county (you, me, everyone who pays taxes) can’t afford to pay $10,000,000 to that person you know who sues for a handout a “payday” if you will.
So please, just go ahead and move out of the way.
